Yeah yeah, I know about Boracay but I like the serenity of Bantayan. It is my favorite place on earth. Palawan is my second favorite. I don’t think I’d like to live in Palawan, too remote. I live in Northern Cebu about an hour and half to get to Bantayan.
It is much cheaper to live in the Philippines if you accept the life style. If you insist on living the same as you do in the USA it can cost you more. I live much better by giving up a few things because I can travel. But the dollar does not go 40 to 20 times further, it is worth 40 peso’s but that doesn’t mean it translates to 40 times more dollars. I’d say about three to four times as much if you’re smart. Housing, food, and services are very cheap but my housing dollar doesn’t go 40 times further, my medical expense is easily 40 times less though.

my retirement pension is superior enough to have good life that i cannot afford in europe, things are affordable, though i don’t need to buy a house since my son doesn’t want to possess anything of the country, so i don’t have an inheritor if i buy something and i don’t want my relatives succeed whatever i decide to buy so i will just rent a place where i can have a nice garden with european flowers till the day i die.

The Philippines has 7,107 islands. There are still many beautiful and unspoiled beaches here. The climate is not too cold or too hot. I think most foreigners retire in cebu, palawan and davao. If you want to know the best place for you to retire, you need to visit many islands. The disadvantages of retiring in Philippines depends on the location you will retire. Some places here have a heavy traffic, difficulty in water and electric supply, but others are clean, no traffic, no water shortage and low crime rate. Also the prices of goods varies in almost every place.

Without a doubt –money.A dollar will go 20 times further in the PI, perhaps as much as 40 times further.Money is what it is ALL about. That, and the fact Filipinos still seem to think that they have to bow down to arrogant white men. Instead of allowing a foreigner to control you , stand up to them. But you dont and that is the 2nd reason they come to the PI. Money in pocket, self worth and superior attitude 2nd as that is what they get. A populace who treat them like royalty where as back home they are what they are. Old, worn out bums.
