belize is where i am retiring to and it is reasonable yet cheaper then the USA . You can get a Belize passport also by shopwing a net worth of $50,000.00. Taxes are cheap and the mean temperature is like 78 degrees year around . Housing is reasonable away from the ocean and the american and english speaking people there actually are quite huge as engklish is a second language . Politically they are stable and the Virgin Islands , aruba , bahamas are just minutes or hours away by plane .
What country is the cheapest for an American to retire?

This really depends on how you would like to retire there are many places you could live on almost nothing but you would be giving up alot of luxuries you are accostumed to so I guess what you need to ask your self is what are you confortable with spending then ask where the best place is to live on thease cost

East Europe.
Civilized, educated, people, good European food, very cheap housing.- Should show very big profit in a few years. Bulgaria and Serbia are now very cheap,Croatia has fantastic coast and scenery. Montenegro mountain scenery.
